Jakarta, Lawyer.kompasone.com- Tuesday, July 30 2024, Assistant Chief of Police for Human Resources Inspector General Pol Dedi Prasetyo released the contingent of Taekwondo Polri athletes who will take part in the Malaysian Taekwondo and Thailand Open championships.
In his speech, Inspector General Pol Dedi advised athletes to strive as hard as possible to make the nation proud.
"Thank you for the enthusiasm, motivation and participation of all your colleagues, which means a lot as ambassadors or brand ambassadors for the Police in the field of taekwondo sports. God willing, with hard work, prayers and the enthusiasm that you have, you will achieve the best achievements, both in Malaysia Open and Thailand Open," said Inspector General of Police Dedi Prasetyo.
Inspector General Pol Dedi Praseto added that in the future there will be several Taekwondo championships abroad and the National Police SSDM will try to facilitate this so that National Police athletes can take part in Taekwondo championships and other martial arts sports.
As motivation, the National Police Chief HR also said that the National Police provides awards for athletes who excel. *Athletes who come from civilians and meet the requirements will be directed as non-commissioned officers on the pro-active recruitment route or Rekpro. Meanwhile, National Police athletes will receive promotions*.
Athletes also have the opportunity to continue their education through scholarships from the National Police in collaboration with 46 universities in Indonesia.
On this occasion Inspector General of Police Dedi Prasetyo also said that although the National Police has not been optimal in its sports institutions, the National Police has formed a National Police Sports Committee (KOP) which this year was inaugurated by the National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo at the National Police Human Resources Working Meeting last May.
Inspector General of Police Dedi Prasetyo also stated that he would form a forum for martial arts sports in the National Police, including Taekwondo, while remaining *under the auspices of the KOP which is fostered by the National Police Chief as general chairman.*
The National Police Taekwondo athlete contingent consists of 22 athletes, 1 official, 2 coaches, 1 chairman, 3 secretaries and 3 managers. The closest championship that National Police athletes will participate in is the International Taekwondo Championship *in Malaysia* from 2 to 4 August 2024.
The majority of Taekwondo athletes sent are National Police personnel who have made achievements at national and international levels, plus two athletes who are civilians.
